About Eco-Leather

Eco-leather sustainable alternatives are crafted from natural, recycled, or synthetic sources and are designed to perform beautifully without compromising on quality.

At Jun616xteen, all of our eco-leather is proudly made in Taiwan. By working closely with local suppliers, we not only support homegrown craftsmanship, but also significantly reduce the carbon emissions associated with long-distance shipping.

We believe in the value of what’s made locally—and we trust in Taiwan’s exceptional quality and innovation.
We deeply value Taiwan’s local resources and proudly believe in the strength and quality of Taiwanese craftsmanship.
At Jun616xteen, our current eco-leather collection features four innovative materials: Pineapple Fiber Leather, Oyster Shell Leather, Micro Skin and Puro — each carefully selected to reflect our commitment to sustainability and refined design.

Pineapple Fiber Leather

Crafted from natural fibers sourced from discarded pineapple leaves grown in Taiwan, this innovative material is combined with rPET, a regenerated polyester fiber made from recycled PET plastic commonly found in beverage bottles and food packaging. The PET is cleaned, shredded, melted, and reprocessed into durable fibers. During production, we incorporate reclaimed tea leaf waste instead of chemical additives, enhancing the elasticity and stability of the material while minimizing its environmental and health impact.

Pineapple fiber leather transforms agricultural byproducts once considered waste into a sustainable material that is both beautiful and functional. It reflects a thoughtful and gentle approach to honoring nature.

Why we chose it

Through a meaningful connection with local farmers in central Taiwan, we gained deeper insight into the island’s agricultural landscape. Pineapple cultivation in Taiwan has a history of over 300 years and remains one of the country’s key economic crops. Each year, nearly 500,000 metric tons of pineapples are harvested, yet approximately 800,000 metric tons of pineapple leaves and related waste are discarded.

At the same time, tea culture is deeply rooted in Taiwanese daily life. Whether during festivals or simple gatherings, tea plays a vital role in hospitality and tradition. While the Taiwanese tea industry yields about 14,000 metric tons annually, it also produces nearly 300,000 metric tons of spent tea leaves.

By repurposing these agricultural byproducts, we aim to reduce environmental waste while creating new opportunities for sustainable design. This approach allows natural resources to reemerge in meaningful forms that support daily living and thoughtful consumption.

Oyster Shell Leatherette

Innovative and renewable, this material is made using finely processed oyster shells sourced from Taiwan, helping reduce PU (polyurethane) usage by 32%. A smart step forward for both design and the planet.

Micro Skin

Soft, skin-friendly, and nearly indistinguishable from genuine leather.

– Offers a high-end leather feel without the inconsistencies of real hide
– Water-resistant, stain-resistant, and easy to clean
– Free from dioxins—even under high heat

Made with ultra-fine microfiber bonded to a high-performance PU surface, Micro Skin is REACH-certified and a safe, animal-friendly alternative to traditional leather.

Puro

Fluffy, light as air, and ultra-soft.

– Highly breathable thanks to its porous structure
– Durable with proven hydrolysis resistance (tested to last at least 5 weeks)
– Free of DMF, non-toxic, and odorless

Puro uses water instead of DMF (Dimethylformamide) during processing—cutting down on wastewater pollution and making it safer for people and the environment.

It’s also produced using energy-efficient methods that conserve both water and electricity.

Less is More

We believe mindful consumption begins at the source. By choosing quality materials and thoughtful design, we aim to extend the life of every piece we create.

Premium Fabric Lining

We use surplus twill fabrics from Taiwan in our bag linings—an intentional choice that reduces waste and makes something beautiful from what might have been discarded.
